Raizo is properly introduced to Usui’s secret profession in episode 2 of Revenger, titled “Gold Opens Any Door”. Raizo regrets and remembers his fiancée and father-in-law. He is lost when Usui asks him to join their group and tells Raizo that they are known as “Revengers”.
A woman named Mana asks Teppa, part of Usui’s group who works as a doctor, to order a hit for her on the two men who ruined her life. After her death, Usui takes Raizo to her place and is able to convince Raizo to help them. Raizo and Usui’s group carry out the assassination for her.

Episode 3 Speculation
Episode 3 is titled “Fortune is Fickle and Blind”. Raizo has joined Usui’s group and will help them carry out their missions. It will take time for Raizo to come to terms with what his actions lead to, but he will engage himself in his new work to prevent himself from thinking about it.
It is no doubt that he sees his new work as a way to repent, by exacting revenge and judgment for other people.
Soji might have been involved with Inohachi in some way, so he might get a little surprised by what transpired. The Nun in the church that Usui prayed in, might be also another important character behind the whole group.

Recap of Episode 2
Raizo remembers his past with Yui, his fiancée, and Hirata, his father-in-law, and heavily regrets what he did. Usui goes to The Chapel, disciples of Deus, and gets the payment for their earlier job.
The priest tells him that he was surprised to see one of Usui’s men having such skill with the sword and that as followers of Deus who shoulder the sin of revenge, judgment will await those who sin from leading down others to revenge. Usui asks who would do something like that.
Usui gives Soji and Nio their pay, and Soji complains about their lesser payment. Usui reminds him of Raizo and tells him he will be part of their group since The Chapel already knows about him. Soji grumbles and goes away to make up for his lower payment.
Teppa Murakami, one of Usui’s group members who also works as a doctor, diagnose a frail woman named Mana. She gives him a gold coin with bite marks and asks him if he knew anything about the group that will take revenge on people’s behalf.
Teppa asks him whom she hates that badly. She tells him of two men, her husband, Inohachi, and his boss, Tenmokuya, who tricked her. Teppa takes the coin with him
Usui visits Raizo and gives him his payment for the last job. He tells him that they take revenge on behalf of people who can’t and are known as “Revengers”. Their clients hire them by leaving a bite mark on a gold coin. Usui tells Raizo that they gauge the depth of a person’s revenge by how deep their teeth marks are on the coin.
Raizo does not want to kill for money, and Usui takes him to Mana’s wake. Raizo is surprised by the lack of lights at a wake, and Teppa tells him that Mana used everything she had, including money for her funeral, to buy the gold so she can hire the Revengers.
Usui tells Raizo that Inohachi and Tenmokuya are regular offenders who have tricked countless women and sold them into prostitution. Raizo asks for some time to think, and Usui tells him to “ask” Yui what to do.
Meanwhile, Tenmokuya tells Inohachi that he is being pursued and orders him to escape to Nagasaki with the bodyguard he hired. The bodyguard takes him to leave by boat.
Teppa gives Raizo, who decided to join them, special boots to use while carrying out his mission. He himself uses a huge compound bow to shoot Inohachi’s bodyguard from far away, and their boat is smashed to pieces. Inohachi swims to the shore but is swiftly killed by Raizo. Teppa is impressed by Raizo’s use of his boots with his swordplay.
In the meantime, Nio and Usui kill Tenmokuya in his brothel. With their work complete, Teppa puts flowers on Mana’s grave and offers her a prayer.

Revenger is a new original anime by Nitroplus and Shochiku. It is about a swordsman who is out to fight the cruel people out there.
