Resident Evil Re:Verse is Not Coming Out this Month; Delayed to 2022

Resident Evil Village has been a hit with the fans, but it did not deliver on all of its promises. It was supposed to launch with a multiplayer mode, but then it was decided the mode would be launched separately, called Resident Evil Re:Verse.

Capcom ran some open betas, which weren’t the best, so the publisher decided it would delay the release of Re:Verse till July. Unfortunately, it seems the mode is still not ready for release, as Capcom, just a little while ago, announced that it would be delayed to some point in 2022.

Now, the tweet Capcom put out is very succinct, but we can gather that something major must have gone wrong for this sudden push. The tweet states that the delay is so the team can deliver a smooth experience, which pretty much means the game probably has many bugs that need to be ironed out.

They also added that they would share updated launch details at a later time. Given that they have not decided to address a specific issue of the game causing the delay, it’s understood that there are a whole array of challenges the devs are facing.

In a subsequent tweet, Capcom states that those who have purchased Resident Evil Village should keep their Re:Verse download code someplace safe or add it to their account now, so they are ready to play the multiplayer as soon as it’s launched.

Delays like these have become commonplace for games in the 2020s. The pandemic has made remote working a necessity, and it isn’t always the most ideal arrangement. Given that Re:Verse was going to be a freebie that was supposed to come with Village, we don’t see much reason to get too frustrated by this news. But the sudden delay announcement is quite strange.

Capcom would have known a July release would not have been possible a while back, especially since they have now added six months to their developing process.

So, why would they wait for half the month to pass by before admitting that the game would not be releasing? One explanation could be that the team working on the project felt that they were on track, but higher-ups stepped in and proposed some drastic changes.

Resident Evil Village is a fantastic horror game and is also slated to get some DLC, so those waiting for the multiplayer now have more time to give to the base game.
