Industry Insider Reveals Resident Evil 9 Announcement & Release Date

With the release of Resident Evil 4 Remake earlier this year, the trajectory of where the franchise is headed has been hard to perceive. However, latest rumors reveal some interesting details about the upcoming installment in the classic Resident Evil series.

Eminent industry insider Dusk Golem has revealed that Resident Evil 9 will be announced next year with its final launch scheduled for 2025. Golem also talked about a “big Capcom game being announced at the end of the year that’s likely releasing in fall 2024.”

The insider did not share any more specific details about the game in question but that did not stop fellow gamers from making up their own theories. Some of the guesses are the Dino Crisis remake, the next Monster Hunter title, and even the Dead Rising remake.

Resident Evil 9 is rumored to feature Chris Redfield as the main protagonist, along with other beloved characters such as Leon, Jill, and Claire. If this stands true, Resident Evil fans will have an all-star cast at hand.

RE9 will primarily revolve around the character of Chris Redfield, with the potential inclusion of other classic characters in the narrative. However, it is my belief that the story arc involving Ethan Winters has concluded, or at least temporarily reached its conclusion.

Players will also have the choice to play as different characters in the game. The next Resident Evil title is also said to focus more on action rather than the story itself. However, given the history of the franchise, we can still expect to have a thrilling plotline.

According to another insider, Capcom will soon begin working on the remake of Code: Veronica. It is also expected that a Resident Evil 5 remake will be made eventually in the near future.

Capcom has not confirmed the speculated release date of Resident Evil 9. Hence, it would be wise to take any information with a pinch of salt. If the upcoming title is indeed being revealed next year, we should be getting announcement teasers pretty soon.
