Breaking Steam records is a regular thing over at Capcom, the developers of the famous Resident Evil Franchise. Their latest venture, Resident Evil 4 Remake, has been making quite some waves at Steam.
According to SteamDB, Resident Evil 4 Remake has been a success amongst the community, with a peak concurrent player count of 168,191. This surpasses the franchise record of 106,631 concurrent players held by Resident Evil Village.
Within a week of its release, the game has been a massive success for the developers who find themselves soaring high after the re-release of the remake of Resident Evil 4.
On Steam, Resident Evil 4 is currently tied with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as the second-ranking in the Top Sellers List. It ranks ahead of AAA titles like Apex Legends, The Last of Us Part I and Part 2, Destiny 2, FIFA 23, and more.
The storyline remains the same as the original Resident Evil 4, where US Agent Leon S. Kennedy hunts down the President’s daughter, who is being held captive by the fictional cult named Los Illuminados cult.
Leon tracks their daughter to a secluded European village, where, in classic Resident Evil fashion, all is not well at all. The game features the same over-the-shoulder POV with improved visuals and side quests instead of Quick-Time events from the original Resident Evil 4.
The fan-favorite horde-style Mercenaries mode will be introduced in the remake on April 7th. For the hardened veterans, there is a new game plus mode, character redesigns, backgrounds, and six control schemes, including the classic from the 2005 Resident Evil 4.
The title sounds quite promising, and for those looking to explore the Resident Evil universe, this is the perfect place to start with new visuals for a legacy title. This era of remakes seems to be going quite well for developers tapping into the nostalgic elements and redefining gaming.
