According to the preview for episode 9, titled “Lies and Girlfriend.”

We will see that there has been a lot of progress between Kazuya and Chizuru, and now that Ruka has arrived in their lives, expect to see more complicated events in the next episode.

From the title of the episode, we can understand that Kazuya may be hiding something from Chizuru.

In the preview we see Ruka talking about the kind of DVD that Kazuya owns. Perhaps that could be something Kazuya doesn’t want them to know about.

3. Recap of Episode 8

Episode 8, titled “Christmas and Girlfriend.”  Begins with Kazuya and Ruka in a relationship. We see that Kazuya was going to college and Ruka shows up and asks him about what they are going to do at Christmas.

She suggested that they go watch a movie together or go on other fun dates, to which Kazuya says that he will think about it.

Chizuru was looking out of the class window and her friends asked her about her plans for Christmas and she told them that she already had her plans.

Later, we see that Kazuya was at home and wished that he could spend his Christmas with Chizuru, so he decided to rent her as a girlfriend for Christmas. But when he opened the app he saw that she was already booked for Christmas.

Kazuya did not want to go out with Ruka on Christmas so he texted her and made up an excuse saying that he will be spending his day going out with family on Christmas and won’t make it.

This way Kazuya decided to spend his Christmas alone like he always does.

On the day of Christmas Kazuya was walking down the street and saw Chizuru on the opposite side of the street meeting a handsome guy.

Curious to know who she was spending her Christmas with, Kazuya follows them and stalks them the whole afternoon and evening. While doing that he also got to know that the guy’s name was Umi.

Later, in the night Kazuya by mistake gets caught following them. Chizuru asked what he was doing here and Kazuya told her all about it.

Then we see Chizuru explain that she is an actress and that Umi and Chizuru go to the same acting classes. Kazuya felt relieved after knowing that.

At the end of the episode, Umi takes his leave and Chizuru gives Kazuya a phone cover for his broken phone as an apology gift for being the one who broke it.

Kazuya upon receiving that gift starts crying as he had never received a present from a girl before.

Rent-A-Girlfriend, also known as Kanojo, Okarishimasu, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Reiji Miyajima.

It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine since July 2017 and has been compiled into fifteen volumes as of June 2020.

The series has been licensed in North America by Kodansha Comics, which released the first volume in English in June 2020.

An anime television series adaptation by TMS Entertainment premiered in July 2020 in the block.
