Kodansha’s Rent-A-Girlfriend manga series was picked up for an animated adaptation by TMS Entertainment. Recently, the anime’s premiere date was revealed to be July 10, 2020.
Gamers.co.jp, a retail website, recently revealed that Kodansha’s Rent-A-Girlfriend anime will have 12 episodes in its first season. These 12 episodes will be split into four home releases of 3 episodes each.
Furthermore, each of the home releases will feature one of the main characters – Chizuru Mizuhara, Asami Nanami, Ruka Summer Sarashina, & Sumi Sakurazawa.
A promotional video was recently released for Rent-A-Girlfriend’s upcoming anime. This is the first full-length promo, compared to the teaser trailers released previously. A special live-stream also took place on June 13.
A key visual has also been released for the series.
The story revolves around Kazuya Kinoshita, a college student who had recently gone through a breakup. Using an online app, he rents a girlfriend named Chizuru Mizuhara but ends up writing her a bad review. Chizuru gets angry with him because of this.
However, Kazuya’s grandmother is unexpectedly put in the hospital, and Kazuya is forced to take Chizuru with him. His grandmother gets smitten with Chizuru. This forces Kazuya to keep renting Chizuru so that he can keep up appearances with friends and family.
The story gets a lot more twisted when they find out that they are next-door neighbors and go to the same college!
