Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, rumoured to launch this October, has suffered a setback in its production.
Owing to the visual and performance mishaps encountered by the original Mass Effect’s remake, the entire edition has been delayed.
What is Mass Effect: Legendary Edition?
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is the alleged name of an upcoming video game arrival by EA. It will pack remastered versions of Mass Effect(2007), Mass Effect 2(2010), and Mass Effect 3(2012) all in a single game. Thus, a modern touch will be provided to these classic games.
Now, Mass Effect is one of the finest story-driven games out there. Actually, a classic where mankind gives everything to stop an alien race from devouring humanity.
The struggle of every character is well defined and structured. I, for one, sympathized with the majority of characters because of their arduous past.
Why is the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition being delayed?
First of all, EA has not publicly spoken a word about this upcoming military science fiction game. It is a reporter named Jeff Grub who let the word out that the Mass Effect Remastered version will be delayed.
Jeff Grub said that the novel COVID-19 and the turmoil caused by it played a major role in preventing the upcoming Mass Effect from rolling out. But the problems witnessed in Mass Effect: Legendary Edition’s production go beyond the pandemic.
“The primary factor holding up development, beyond the pandemic, is the original Mass Effect game. It currently does not live up to the quality of the rest of the package. It would make a poor impression for new players, and it might disappoint fans who then won’t go on to play and experience the impressive upgrades from Mass Effect 2 and ME3.”
Jeff Grub
As clarified by Grub, the original Mass Effect showed graphical and gameplay problems. Thus, there is no point in creating a rushed game that can destroy the legacy of the series.
We have seen it many times where a remake took everything a legendary game once stood for. Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow – Mirror Of Fate HD being prime examples for the above.
Furthermore, it is believed that Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer will not be a part of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. However, DLC of the entire trilogy will be housed by the forthcoming EA arrival.
It must be noted that EA will probably not see this delay as a setback or a hiccup. As the American video game company never actually acknowledged the existence of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition.
