Daniel Radcliffe will star as the titular character in the new Roku Original film, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, celebrating the famous pop icon and Grammy-winning musician Al Yankovic.
The streaming channel has revealed a new poster for the film with Radcliffe’s look and confirmed the release date. The biopic was announced early in 2022 and will debut on the streaming channel Roku soon. The film’s teaser trailer, with multiple stills of Radcliffe’s portrayal of the famed musician, had also been released earlier in the year.
The film will be directed by Eric Appel and Radcliffe’s Yankovic will be joined by Evan Rachel Wood’s Madonna, Rainn Wilson’s Dr. Demento, Toby Huss as Nick Yankovic, Julianne Nicholson as Mary Yankovic, and Quinta Brunson’s Oprah Winfrey.
The film, premiering on the Roku channel on November 4, 2022, will depict Yankovic’s life as a young musical prodigy. It will show his journey to being labeled as one of the best parody musicians, selling millions of records.
