Developer Arkane’s latest launch for PC, Xbox Series X|S, Redfall, was dubbed one of the first next-gen games for PC/consoles without performance mode.
The absence of the performance mode in Redfall means that the FPS will be locked to 60FPS. The decision was made relatively recently, as there are physical retail copies of the game with back art saying Performance Mode will not be available at launch.
The 60FPS sticker on the retail copies suggests that the developers might have delayed the decision until recently.
It remains unknown when will Arkane launch the Performance Mode for Redfall, as a time frame has yet to be announced.
With the launch a week away, 4K 30FPS will be available on the Xbox Series X and 1440p 30FPS on the Xbox Series S.
While many hope that Redfall will remain enjoyable at 30FPS, it is expected that the title will be released prematurely with some bugs still in the game.
This would not be surprising, given how many games have been released in buggy states, along with the famous titles such as Cyberpunk 2077.
Even though 60FPS and above is available on PC, the experience could be laggy, with optimization being a big issue and things not looking good overall in-game.
Redfall is set for release on 2nd May 2023 on PC and Xbox Series X|S across the globe. It will be available on Xbox Game Pass on PC and consoles as well.
