The City Call members have to do manual labor and set up everything, which is a piece of cake for Yor. However, The Lady Patriots Society is filled with snobs who look down on the City Hall members.
Yor is reminded of Melinda, who is the chairwoman of that society. However, nobody believes that Yor knows Melinda personally. Millie is lost in thought and decides to return to the office but is interrupted by the LPS members who nag at her to work hard.
Millie loses her temper and snaps back, saying the soldiers who survived should be grateful. The LPS is stunned at her behavior when Millie reveals that her father never returned from war.
The LPS ladies immediately target Millie and call her pitiful for making everything about her when Yor interrupts. She questions what is pitiful about Millie, as everyone’s physical and mental state is different.
However, one of the LPS members loses her composure and goes to slap Yor, only to be held back by Melinda. Melinda’s demeanor immediately brightens upon seeing Yor, which angers Millie more as she blames Desmond for starting the war.
However, Melinda just accepts the blame even though Desmond was not the Prime Minister when the war started. She calmly addresses Millie and thanks her for her help.
Millie apologizes to Melinda, who is just glad Millie won’t hate Yor because of her. Millie changes her mind and decides to help out more instead of returning. Millie thanks Yor for defending her as well.
The City Hall members have grown closer. The chapter ends on a light-hearted note.
