One Piece Ch 1089 Release Date, Raws: The Straw Hats Return

Koby destroys Pizarro’s hand and saves the soldiers in chapter 1088 of One Piece, titled “Final Lesson.”

It was an epic chapter with loads of fun and amazing moments. Garp stood up again despite all his injuries and helped Coby and his team to save all the refugees and naval soldiers.

Koby showed everyone his true strength as he single-handedly crumbled Pizarro’s hand with one punch. However, Garp was in a lot of trouble by the end of the chapter, but he seemed to be unaffected by it all.

1. Chapter 1089 Release Date

Episode 1089 of the One Piece anime has been released on Sunday, Aug 06, 2023. The episode title or preview has not been shown.

2. Chapter 1089 Raw Scans, Leaks

Chapter 1089 of One Piece is titled “Barricading Incident,” and it starts at Foosha Village, where Woop Slap is seen reading about Garp in the newspaper. Woop Slap trusts that Garp will be fine. Meanwhile, Makino’s son is laughing at Luffy’s photo in the newspaper, and Makino says, “You’ve grown to like Luffy-oniichan, right?”

We then cut to Mt. Colubo, to the Dadan Family’s base. We see Dadan’s reaction to the news in the newspaper; she’s asking in tears what Garp and Luffy are up to. Suddenly, a huge earthquake starts. It’s taking place six days after the Lulusia Kingdom’s destruction. There is a huge hole in the middle of the sea at the place that was once the Lulusia Kingdom.

Back at Foosha Village, where villagers are looking at rising tides, Woop Slap is looking too worried. On Egghead Island, Marine battleships surround the island. Kizaru destroys one of the Vegapunk’s Sea Beast Weapons” with a normal beam. But Kizaru has not started the attack yet since he doesn’t want to cause too much damage to the island.

Kizaru calls Sentoumaru and asks him to surrender, but Sentoumaru refuses. We see a little flashback panel of young Kizaru demonstrating his beam to young Vegapunk and child Sentoumaru.

We can see that around Egghead Island, there are 100 Marine battleships with nine Vice Admirals and 30,000 Marine soldiers. Doberman and Doll are part of the Vice Admirals, but there are new characters too.

Saint Saturn is having a meal in his room. Vice Admiral Doberman enters and reports on the overall situation. We can see a recap of the entire Egghead Island and where all the characters are. Saturn also orders Doberman to sink the researchers’ ship that escaped the island earlier as well.

On Egghead Island, York is calling Mary Geoise, complaining why they try to kill her along with other Vegapunks. The Gorousei reply that they saw her as no different from other Vegapunks. However, after Lulusia’s incident, they have a new idea, and they might keep York to help them produce more “Mother Flame” weapons.

However, in the final double spread of the chapter, we can see that York is making the call in tears with Zoro’s sword at her neck. Usopp is the one setting up Den Den Mushi. York ends the conversation by screaming for help.

York: “Save me from Luffy!” The Gorousei, Saturn, and Kizaru are shocked since, until then, they were under the impression that York managed to defeat everyone using the Seraphim before calling them to Mary Geoise. We can see that the rest of the Straw Hat crew, Bonney, Lucci, and the real Vegapunk, are eating behind York, Zoro, and Usopp.

In the end, we see Luffy saying, “I don’t really get it, but we just have to use her as a shield to escape, right?”

It’s time to get back to Egghead and see what Luffy is up to in chapter 1089 of One Piece.

I. What Happened to Garp?

There are small chances of Garp dying, knowing how strong he is and how much value his life contains. A long ice blade brutally stabbed him at the end of the previous chapter, but seeing his reaction, we know it is not enough to kill him.

I wonder what Blackbeard will do to him. He seems to be a bigger bait than Coby, but we can’t just jump to conclusions as of now.

II. What is Happening on Egghead?

While we were busy with Coby, something terrible must have happened on Egghead, forcing Luffy to barricade himself on the island. The place was in turmoil because of Vegapunk York’s betrayal.

We also saw Blackbeard’s ship before the narrative shifted to Sabo. He must have been there after defeating Law. Maybe hearing about Law’s defeat forced Luffy to barricade himself on the island.

5. Chapter 1088 Recap

The chapter starts with a flashback to the former Naval HQ, where Garp teaches young Coby how he should value the future and value the life of a child over an old man.

Weeks earlier, on Amazon Lily, Coby trades himself for 800 soldiers and a battleship and tells Blackbeard to keep him as a captive. We return to the present, where the lives of many soldiers are in danger because of Pizarro’s giant hand.

Garp tells Coby, Helmeppo, and Grus that they can save them all and issues orders for each one of them. Coby is assigned to destroy the giant hand, Grus is assigned to protect the ship, and Helmeppo is ordered to protect the two.

The trio rushes ahead to do their respective job. Coby tells Grus that he will have to destroy the hand even though he doesn’t have any weapons or bombs. Garp stands up steadily.

Kuzan tells him to stop, but Garp pushes himself ahead, destroying pirates on his way. He launches Galaxy Divide on Pizarro, breaking the skull of the island and raising his hand.

We get a little flashback where Garp gets to know that Coby trains hard every night after training with him because he believes he has to train 100 times harder than everyone to become strong.

As Coby launches towards the hand, the pirates mock him while the soldiers get scared. With all his power, he launches Honesty Impact, splitting Pizarro’s hand into two and leaving everyone shocked.

Grus protects everyone from the rubble. Coby boards the ship. Everyone waits for Garp, but he tells them to move away from the island as fast as they can without worrying about him.

He tells them that they are the future of the Navy and that what happened on the island will one day become a major threat to all pirates. We see Garp lying down, stabbed by Kuzan’s snow, but he continues laughing loudly.

The next day’s news headline speaks about Coby’s return and the disappearance of Vice Admiral Garp while Sea Emperor Luffy has barricaded himself within Egghead Island.
