Despite the fact that Chihiro is incredibly skilled, he has yet to unlock the full potential of his enchanted blade, Enten. Azami warns Chihiro that he cannot take on Sojo as he is probably out of Chihiro’s league.

3. Chapter 9 Speculation
Chihiro is going to have to face off against his worst and strongest enemy yet, and it is bound to be a fight to remember. We caught a glimpse of what is inside Sojo’s twisted mind, and it was gruesome. We also witnessed Sojo mercilessly getting rid of two sorcerers by using both manipulation and brute force.
Since it is only Chihiro, Hanao, and Char at the hideout, it is up to Chihiro to protect them both. Shiba is not there to get the other two to safety. He might come back, but Chihiro will have to hold his own against Sojo and his enchanted katana, Cloud Gouger. Chihiro also plans to take it back, which will prove to be extremely hard.
If Azami’s words are true and if Sojo really is out of Chihiro’s league, he will have to go the extra mile to win this battle. However, Chihiro has not been able to rest since they came to Tokyo, which is going to affect his body. We have seen his shaky hands on multiple instances.
After Sojo’s chilling entrance, which caught everybody off guard, the next chapter is going to be filled with intense battle scenes. We will also find out about the first of the infamous six enchanted katanas.
4. Chapter 8 Recap
The chapter begins with a flashback of Azami and Shiba telling Chihiro to lay low for a while. At least until the auction next month, while they will figure out the best course of action. Before Chihiro can go on a downward spiral, his thoughts are interrupted by a sleep-talking Char.
He gets up to go thank Hinao for letting them use the shop as a hideout, but Hinao dismisses it by saying she’s always happy to help. We switch to Daruma, the sorcerer who was after Char. After Chihiro defeated him, Shiba took him for questioning. His real name is Norisaku Madoka, but he got the name Daruma because of his abilities.
While Shiba was questioning him, he revealed everything he knew, alongside his tragic backstory. He got disowned by his family because they got dubbed as the “Bomb Moster Family.” Shiba prompts him to start over a new leaf as he still has feelings of concern for his family.
Shiba’s words move him enough to reach out to his family. He tells his sister he is quitting the life of the sorcerer. She said she’d come pick him up so they could go apologize to their mother. However, when Madoka gets in the car, he sees his sister with blood splatters around her. He notices Sojo in the backseat, who immediately impales him with his katana.
Sojo calls the “deaths” consequences of Madoka’s failures. Madoka, in despair and livid, turns himself into a suicide-daruma bomber. Sojo manages to exit the car safely and reveals how the sister was not dead, just unconscious, which means Madoka’s desperate attempt at revenge just resulted in his own and his sister’s death.
After this, Sojo is confronted by the brother of the sorcerer with psychological induction abilities. He reveals Chihiro’s whereabouts and requests Sojo to kill “the boy with the scar”, referring to Chihiro. However, instead of possibly thanking the sorcerer, Sojo chooses to kill him instead. It is revealed that the brother possesses similar sorcery skills, as he uses them on Sojo in order to defend himself.
We catch a haunting glimpse of Sojo’s dark and twisted past, a panel featuring a young Sojo, his palm reaching out while what seems like blood is dripping from a bunch of lifeless men hanging over him. It is incredibly chilling as Sojo is standing in a garden of fully bloomed flowers, and we cannot see the expression he has on his face.
However, this does not work on Sojo at all. He kills off the sorcerer and heads to Chihiro. The one-month time before the auction that Chihiro could have used to train himself is not on the cards as expected. Everyone is caught off-guard by Sojo’s sudden ambush. Hinao, who was closest to the door, is dragged away from Sojo’s attack as Chihiro’s fast reaction speed saves her.
Sojo acknowledges his speed while Chihiro makes a note of the Cloud Gouger in Sojo’s possession. Char wakes up from the commotion, but she is taken to safety by Hinao. Chihiro suffers a blow from Sojo’s attack, who starts lamenting about how he would like to battle against another enchanted katana. However, he’s beginning to think that the elusive seventh katana is just a rumor.
Chihiro gets back up and asks Sojo if his blade is stained with the blood of evil-doers. However, Sojo does not care about that, which makes Chihiro more determined to take the katana back from Sojo’s hands. They both unleash the powers of the enchanted katanas, ready to battle.
