3. Chapter 12 Speculation
Chihiro has convinced the Kamunabi to let him join the operation to take down Sojo. However, his primary focus will be Char’s rescue. More than wanting to defeat Sojo, Chihiro wants Char to be safe, so his role in the operation works perfectly for him.

4. Chapter 11 Recap
Chapter 11, titled “Awakens,” begins with Chihiro waking up in a hospital bed. His entire body is bruised and bandaged up. Disoriented, he tries to sit up but has a hard time. Everything that happens comes back to him, but before he can fall into despair, the door to his hospital room is opened by Shiba and Azami.
Shiba immediately starts freaking out at the sight of awakened Chihiro and tells him to go back to sleep. Azami tells Shiba to calm down and fills Chihiro in about their whereabouts and the current situation. They are in a public hospital. Hinao is alive and recovering. Char should be alive. Chihiro is confused at Shiba’s doubtful words.
Shiba reveals that Sojo has Datenseki, which is the source material of the enchanted blades. Datenseki is imbued with spirit energy, which multiplies when injected into a human body. It is the same as enchanted blades, but its powers are toxic. The condensed spirit energy is hard to contain by humans, so their body bursts and they die.
Rokuhira was the only person who succeeded in stabilizing the powers of Datenseki. Shiba tells Chihiro that Sojo believes he can also stabilize it using Char’s body. Char is locked in the cage, and the doctors working for Sojo only let her out to take the required body parts. Chihiro realizes what Shiba means by ‘using Char’s body.’
Chihiro feels frustrated at his failure to protect Char because she trusted him, and he broke her trust. Azami reveals that the Kamunabi has created a special corp to counter Cloud Gouger. Azami requests Chihiro to meet them and share his knowledge of the enchanted swords.
A rowdy bunch of Kamunabi members barges into Chihiro’s hospital room. Chihiro will only help them under one condition. He wants to join the operation. The Kamunabi members are impressed by Chihiro’s battle with Sojo as he did not let any bystander get injured.
However, Shiba bluntly tells Chihiro that, considering his injuries, he won’t be of any help for another month. Chihiro has been out for five days, which makes everything worse. The Kamunabi aims to kill Sojo, and Char’s rescue is not their priority.
Leaving Chihiro unsupervised would be worse, so they let him join the operation. His aim will be Char’s rescue while the Kamunabi kills Sojo. Chihiro agrees to join in the operation.
