Right after seeing this, Maki sneaked behind Sukuna and stabbed him in the heart with a cursed Katana. This forced Sukuna to divert some of his cursed energy just to make his heart beat artificially. Yuji was unprepared to give up, but he was in no shape to fight. Choso told him to calm down.
A fierce battle started between Maki and Sukuna, and due to her heavenly restrictions, she was better at seeing Sukuna’s attacks than other sorcerers. This reminded Sukuna of when he fought against Mahoraga in Shibuya. Far away from this fight, as Uraume was facing Hakari, she told him that Sukuna wasn’t taking this fight seriously. Whether this was a bluff or not, we’ll have to wait and find out.

2. Chapter 253 Raw Scans, Leaks
The chapter starts with a flashback where Gojo, Nanami, Kusakabe, and Mei Mei are talking about who the strongest first great sorcerer is, and all of them mention Kusakabe.
We go back to the actual fight. The building starts falling off on them while Maki and Sukuna are fighting, and by having the cars fall off, Sukuna slashes through them so Maki can be aware of where it’s coming from, but she can defend herself
Ino then joins the fight out of nowhere, trying to help, but Sukuna starts attacking him with his slashes and kicks him, making him unable to get much out of it. Sukuna notices that he doesn’t have Nanami’s weapon, and Kusakabe comes to his surprise and attacks him with the weapon, but it doesn’t do much to Sukuna because he is aware of their plan.
Maki jumps in again to fight off Sukuna because she believes that she needs to end this right away, and getting rid of him now is really important.
Maki Starts slashing a pillar and kicking it toward him, but Sukuna dashes and grabs her face right away. Then Sukuna starts praising Maki and talking about how she is much better than Yuji.
As Sukuna’s attack starts tearing up Maki’s face, Sukuna starts getting more excited about the fight because he believes it’s a fight between “Jujutsu and the physical body.”
While Sukuna is very excited, Maki does notice that Sukuna has stopped healing himself. Sukuna continues to praise Maki by saying she is the perfect example of a Jujutsu sorcerer.
Sukuna hits Maki with his black flash. Kusakabe starts saying that no one is here but can’t fall back, so he has to fight him now.
The chapter ends with Kusakabe starting a fight with Sukuna, and Kusakabe doubts whether he even stands a chance against Sukuna.
3. Chapter 253 Speculation
I. Sukuna’s Full Potential
We can clearly see now that Sukuna is somewhat struggling to fight against the sorcerers. His cursed energy output is getting weaker, his RCT is not working properly, the connection between his and Megumi’s soul is getting torn apart, and most importantly, on top of all that, he has to use cursed energy to make his heart beat, which is no easy task. So, we don’t know how much we can believe in Uraume’s statement.
However, she did seem confident when she said that Sukuna wasn’t using his full power and that he was still missing a finger that Yuta had consumed earlier. Long ago, in 2021, Gege Akutami said in an interview that Sukuna would “eat” an important character to death. Hence, this gives rise to a terrific theory that Sukuna might devour Yuta or Rika to regain his full strength.
II. Will Gojo Return?
Gojo’s death was certainly the most notable event of the manga as well as the jujutsu world. It has been well over 5 months since this fan-favorite side character got killed offscreen, and it stirred a lot of drama in the community back then. Most fans have given up hope that their beloved blue-eyed, white-haired sensei will return, but after the recent chapter, there might be a very small possibility that he will come back.
I know this sounds very far-fetched, but bear with me; in chapter 252, we see that Sukuna is able to keep his heart beating using cursed energy even though he was stabbed right through it, with a special cursed katana nonetheless. It’s not just something he gained after achieving his true form because back in the juvenile arc, he used this same trick to keep Yuji alive.
Now, if Sukuna could do that with just 1/20th of his power, who’s saying that Gojo can’t do the exact same? After months of waiting, we got confirmation that Gojo’s body was taken to Shoko, and we are very confident that she’ll push herself past her limits to find any way to save Gojo. If Gojo could keep his heart beating, then the possibility of him returning isn’t entirely delusional.
4. Chapter 252 Recap
The chapter started with a little flashback of Kusakabe talking with Ino about what to do if Yuta’s domain breaks. Yuta had already moved the domain to a safe spot where the sorcerers had no blind spots and were prepared to attack Sukuna at any time. Ino told Kusakabe that it’d be better if they had more people inside Yuta’s domain, but Kusakabe said it was too late and if they tried that now, it would ruin their surprise attack.
Maki prepared for the attack, and Yuta canceled his domain to signal the rest of the team. Maki immediately sneaked behind Sukuna and stabbed his heart with her cursed Katana. Rika took Yuta away from the fight, and Ui Ui teleported with him even further. Sukuna realized why Yuta broke the barrier and what Maki had planned beforehand. The wound Maki inflicted was healing much slower than other wounds since it was done directly to the soul.
Even though he was heavily injured, Itadori got up and started running toward Sukuna as he was not ready to believe that Megumi had given up. He collapsed just after going a bit since he had been continuously using RCT to heal himself, even though he learned it only a month ago. Choso came there and told Itadori to calm down and take his time to heal himself.
On the other side, Maki and Sukuna locked into a fierce battle where both parties were on par with each other. Both kept attacking each other and dodging each other’s attacks. Maki’s fighting style reminded Sukuna of his fight against Mahoraga in Shibuya. All this time, Sukuna was forcibly making his heart beat with the help of cursed energy. Maki asked whether he could keep that up while fighting her.
Our point of view switched to Hakari and Uraume, where Hakari told Uraume that Sukuna wasn’t trying to hide his presence at all. He also mentioned the fact that Sukuna’s cursed energy output was lowering by the second. Uraume lagged and told Hakari that it was simply because Sukuna was not interested in anyone present there and that they should be ashamed for not being able to be better than Gojo Satoru. She also said that Sukuna still wasn’t using his full power.
