The Chainsaw Man Church creates chaos around the city in chapter 146 of Chainsaw Man, titled “Chainsaw Man War.”

The Church has completely turned the tables on Public Safety after a massive amount of transformations throughout the world. Everybody who was a member and contracted to the Fire Devil has grown chainsaws out of their head and arms.

I. Fire Devil’s Power

The biggest reveal of this chapter was the Fire Devil having contracts with 350,000 members of the Church. This makes a crazy amount of people who have completely lost control in a massacre around the world, which could leave death tolls in millions.

II. Fakesaw Man

The reveal in this chapter deepens the theories about Fakesaw Man, the lookalike that saved Denji at the end of the Falling Devil fight. Barem mentioned all the people who transformed and lost control, but that may have resulted from the mass contract. Fakesaw Man could also be with the Fire Devil but in a direct contract instead.

This battle is also taking place while the entire world plunges into chaos. Asa’s arm falls to the ground before she can even react. Yoshida apologizes for having to fight her even after she followed his advice. Barem explains to Denji and Public Safety that they tricked the followers, saying the Justice Devil would grant contractors the power to transform into their desired form.

The only part they lied about was the name of the Devil. Fami had some helpful contacts through which they contracted the followers with the Fire Devil. In that instance, some buildings broke out into flame, and many of the Church’s followers started sprouting chainsaws from their heads and hands.

The Fire Devil has another ability that boosts their power with the number of contractors. Most of them would lose all control, but now they look closer to Chainsaw Man. At 5 PM that day, about 350,000 humans entered a contract with the Fire Devil at the Chinese and Canadian chapters of the Church.

Barem announces that the Great King of Terror will descend on the world in half a year. Along with Fami, he aims to kill the king and save the human race. Denji starts shouting at him for believing in such dumb prophecies, but Nayuta stops him.

Since both Nayuta and Fami are sisters and horsemen, they can tell that the prophecy is true. She reveals that their eldest sister is coming, the Death Devil, the most primal fear that is likely the biggest fear amongst everyone in the world.

Nayuta understands Fami’s plan now; she aims to kill the Death Devil by ensuring everyone is scared of War and Chainsaws. This way, Denji and Yoru will become extremely strong and have enough power to stand a chance.

Chainsaw Man is a manga series by Tatsuki Fujimoto that was serialized from December 2018-2020 and returned in July 2022 with a second part. The series also received an anime series by MAPPA.
