Boruto faces the divine trees in chapter 4 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, titled “The Awakening.”

As he and his frog are trying to get hold of the situation, a divine tree rises in front of them and attacks Boruto. The tree asks if Boruto is there to offer himself up.

Boruto fights it away. The tree tries to devour him, but he escapes. Code starts going unconscious. Boruto rescinds his Uzuhiko and tells Code to get up and prepare for the enemy’s attack.

As Code asks Boruto about the Ten-Tails, another divine tree shows up, telling them that the trees can suck chakra out of all living things and make chakra fruit out of it.

However, they have now evolved themselves thanks to Code giving them self-awareness. They get surrounded by divine trees, and Boruto’s toad tells him to leave for now.

Kawaki reports back to Shikamaru about Boruto’s escape. Kawaki thinks Boruto and Code work together, but Sarada debunks this assumption. She suggests that they should use Boruto’s help to take down Code.

 

Four divine trees surround Boruto and Code and launch an attack. Despite trying his best, Boruto gets trapped and asks Code to lend him a hand. Code leaves the place, saying the trees will devour him without him doing anything. Hence, his purpose is complete.

Boruto also disappears from their site. Boruto meets Koji, and the latter tells him not to be rash with his attacks. Boruto sighs and says that Sasuke has to wait, revealing that Sasuke has also become a tree.
