The events from the last episode quickly made Satella the new fan favorite, while dumping Echidna.
Nevertheless, Roswaal’s revelations made Subaru and us think about Return by Death a bit more deeply.

Episode 39 of the upcoming season of Re: Zero anime will be released in January 2021. The episode title has not been revealed yet.
The upcoming season will be the second part or second cour of Season 2.

Meanwhile, Cima talks to Subaru and the others outside the tombs about the founding of Sanctuary. It seems that Sanctuary and Emilia have a strange past and relationship.

Episode 13 starts with Subaru angrily facing off Satella and rejects her. He tries to take his life again but is revived by Minerva, who reminds him that people love him and grieved for him.
He wonders if his life did matter and refuses Echidna’s contract.
II. Power of Return by Death
After parting ways with the witches, he wakes up and realizes that he could no longer take the Trials.
Roswaal expresses his disappointment in Subaru for not utilizing his power to its true extent.
Subaru notices that Roswaal was a madman, who hired Elsa with the endgame of molding him to his image. Frightened, Subaru flees from them all, but Otto confronts him.
Otto punches him and tells him to stop shouldering his problems alone. The episode ends with a lot of foreshadowing for the future.

Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World is a Japanese light novel series written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shinichirou Otsuka.
The plot is based on Subaru Natsuki, the protagonist who gets sucked into a fantasy world on his way home from the convenience store.
He gets attacked by a group of thugs and is beaten to a pulp immediately, but this girl from the fantasy world named Satella saves him.
