The protagonist’s growth throughout the series shines through in this episode. Right at the beginning of the episode, he kills himself using a gift from Echidna- Petra’s handkerchief that transforms into a knife. We see his sense of determination and conviction when he tells Garfiel that he isn’t the only one who lived through hardships. The name of the episode comes from Subaru’s conversation with Garfiel when he says “I know hell”, as he has seen it many times.

II. Ryuzu’s Big Secret

We learn that all the Ryuzus we see in the episode are a result of Echidna’s experiments to try and achieve immortality but he ended up with copies of Ryuzus whose duty is to care for the Sanctuary. Some of the Ryuzus have their own personalities like Ryuzu Bilma whereas the others are just shells such as the ones used in Garfiel’s attack on Satella.
