Crunchyroll streamed the first season of Re: ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- as it aired in 2016. Ever since it ended, fans were all worried about whether the series will continue or not. Later the news of its second season to be out in 2020 came as a relief.
Re: ZERO has also announced on their website that the first season will be re-broadcasted in the form of edited, 1 hour episodes from January 1. The edited episodes will involve new additional animations as well.

This will condense the 25 episode series into just 12 episodes, and its primary purpose is to link the first season to the second. Thereby refreshing the fans with the first season once again before putting them directly in season 2. Although season 2 does not have a definite release date yet it is scheduled for broadcast in April 2020.
We are expecting season 2 to begin immediately after this re-edit of the first season. However, right now, we can’t say how this re-edit will affect the first season until all episodes come out on Crunchyroll. There are no news for an English dub as well as of now.
