Recap of Episode 4
At the beginning of Episode 5, we dive straight into an intense confrontation as Subaru faces the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony, Roy Alphard.
Julius Euclius intervenes, and then, by convincing Subaru to focus on their mission, they leave with the tension mounting. Emilia finds herself in a disturbing interaction with Regulus Corneas, the Sin Archbishop of Greed, who delusionally declares her as his 79th wife.
Regulus’s warped sense of reality and twisted affection bothers Emilia as she waits for Subaru to come and help her get out.
Subaru encounters Capella Emerada Lugunica, the Sin Archbishop of Lust, and it escalates into a gruesome battle. Capella’s grotesque powers allow her to transform herself into demonic and bestial forms.
Capella lures Subaru into a trap, showcasing her power of transformation as she torments him physically and emotionally, pushing him to the brink of despair.
Suddenly, the city floods, carrying an unconscious Subaru downstream, while Capella orders the minions of the Church to bring further dread to the city. The episode closes with Emilia witnessing the destroyed city.
Speculations
Episode 6 will likely build upon the dramatic escalation of threats against Subaru and Emilia. Seeing Capella’s interest in Emilia, she may become the primary target, especially as Capella’s forces attempt to seize the Tome of Wisdom and the artificial spirit.
This clash could test Emilia’s resilience and abilities and bring them to newer and never-before-seen levels. Meanwhile, Subaru’s severe injuries and his plunge into Priestella’s floodwaters hint at another desperate struggle for survival, and it is unlikely that he can return from death soon.
