When Capcom moved the spotlight to Resident Evil during its Showcase last night, no one was left disappointed as the developer finally revealed the long-awaited DLC for RE: Village.
Resident Evil Village is easily one of the best horror games the franchise has to offer, and its strong sales along with positive reviews are a testament to this fact. With many devoting hours upon hours to this survival horror, the existing content started becoming stale, and fans were eager for more bits to do.
While Capcom had announced the RE: Village DLC soon after the title launched, everything about it remained a mystery. However, the Capcom Showcase 2022 changed everything for the better as it finally unearthed when the expansion would roll out and what it would entail.
The Winters’ Expansion is the first DLC for Resident Evil Village that will roll out on October 28, 2022, and introduce a bundle of extra content to the survival game. The pack will incorporate a new Shadows of Rose story, a third-person mode for the campaign, and additions to The Mercenaries, including a playable Lady Dimitrescu.
Besides the internet’s nine-foot-tall mommy, a “fully prepared” Chris Redfield and the robust, hammer-wielding Karl Heisenberg will also feature in the arcade-style The Mercenaries: Additional Orders mode.
As for other bits, the Shadows of Rose can only be played from a third-person perspective, which serves as a stark contrast to the first-person perspective that RE: Village sports.
But besides changing things up in the Shadows of Rose, the DLC also adds a third-person viewpoint to the entire base game. This means you can now replay RE: Village from a third-person perspective instead of the initial first-person if desired.

Rosemary Winters, Ethan’s beloved daughter, has grown up and is now struggling with terrifying powers. In search of a way to break free from her curse, Rose enters the consciousness of the Megamycete. Rose’s journey takes her to a mysterious realm where memories of the past return to create a warped and twisted world of nightmares.

That’s all we know for now. Details related to pricing are not available at the moment. But as we get closer to the DLC’s October 28 release, expect Capcom to bring many more pieces of information to light.
