There’s no doubt that the world of Resident Evil Village is dripping with a spooky atmosphere. But what if all of that beautiful, gothic aesthetic was replaced with that of a kid’s cartoon? Say, Spongebob? Well, a new mod does just that. Mod creator KushAstronaut has given us the ability to experience Resident Evil Village with the artwork from Spongebob Squarepants.
Resident Evil Village has been out for a little over a week now and it’s the talk of gaming town. Since its release, the game has received several mods, many centering on the infamous giant vampiress Lady Dimitrescu. Now modders are also looking at other aspects of the game to see how they can change it. The most recent mod transports Lady D’s castle into an episode from Spongebob Squarepants.
This mod, titled “Spongebob Paintings and Photos”, will turn all the photographs and paintings in the game into a screenshot from the first three seasons of Spongebob. So, while running around the castle evading Lady D, you can expect to come across images of the Hash Slinging Slasher or Squidward’s Bold and Brash painting. With this mod, the castle is going to be filled with iconic instances from the Spongebob episodes. This won’t make the game any less scary, but it’s definitely going to become more entertaining.
To get this mod, you’ll have to go to Nexus Mods and download “Spongebob Paintings and Photos”. Ensure that you already have the Fluffy Manager mod, which allows other mods to be installed. Then all you need to do is download and install the mod to enjoy the effects!
Even if this mod isn’t to your liking, there are plenty of others for you to choose from. Players have been complaining about the lack of screen time Lady Dimitrescu has been allotted within the game, so now there’s a mod that replaces the protagonist Ethan Winters with Lady D. Another mod combines Lady D and Thomas the Tank Engine for some truly terrifying results.
The world of Resident Evil Village is already rich with Easter eggs and references, but we never figured people would want to see Spongebob references in the game. But, it seems there’s a demand for everything these days.
