In Episode 3, Minato and his teammates lost to Amihama in the 150-meter swimming race. The fact that Minato was inches short of winning this challenge makes the outcome even more heart-breaking.
Is there any hope left for Amihama to join the water polo club? Has Joe’s dream of playing as a 7-man team come to an end? We bring you the latest episode update of this anime.
Episode 4 Speculation
Episode 4 will reveal Amihama’s tragic backstory that made him abandon swimming. He must have witnessed or gone through some accident that convinced him to leave swimming.
From the previous episode, it’s clear that Amihama gives his 100% in everything, so there must be a strong reason behind his resentment towards swimming. I wonder if it has something to do with his nightmares.
From the opening and ending them, it’s more or less clear that Amihama will agree to join the water polo club. Maybe he is impressed with the tough fight they managed to put up against him.

Episode 3 Recap
In Episode 3, Minato and his teammates approach Amihama with the hopes of convincing him to join the water polo club. Well, it doesn’t go very well since Amihama rejects them right on their face.
For those of you who don’t know, Amihama is no ordinary athlete. He has been a national-level swimmer and holds a record of 52 seconds in a 100-meter race.
There’s no way that Joe can let such an athlete slip out of their hands. However, Amihama says that he will rather try out other sports clubs like archery and kendo than swimming again.
The next day, Ushimado suggests that they should give Amihama a reason to swim again. But thanks to Minato and Ejiri’s poor acting skills, the plan turns out to be a complete mess.
With no other option left, Babayaro steps up to give an emotional speech on how high expectations can bring someone down. Finally, Amihama agrees to join the club if they manage to beat him in a race.
It will be a 150-meter race, where the six of them can team up against Amihama, covering 25 meters each. Moreover, they will be given additional 20 minutes of handicap advantage.
The next two days, Minato and others spend in the pool, working on their swimming techniques and form. But despite all their efforts, they fail to beat Amihama in the race.
Can they still bring Amihama to the water polo club? We have to wait for the episode to find that out.
