In the mood for some heartfelt yet woke reality TV? Queer Eye is back on Netflix with season five. Unlike the usual format of our Fab Five giving a makeover to eight people, this time it will be ten lucky people who will be touched by their magic. So this gives us two extra episodes!
Set in good ol’ Philly, season five begins with a church pastor struggling to return to his normal routine after cooking out to his community.

Having won an Emmy for its casting choices in the past, the reality show is back with The Fab Five – Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, Tan France, Antoni Porowski, and Jonathan Van Ness.
As fans might know already, Bobby is the interior designer, Karamo is the cultural expert and a career adviser, Tan has the fashion part, Antoni is the chef and Jonathan meets all the grooming needs of one lucky person in each episode.
Transcending the definitions of what a traditional makeover means, this show aims to bring out the positive side of each person, ensuring an all-around change in their lives. This empowering, politically-aware, and powerful reality show is a rarity in our times.
No wonder the show has bagged 7 Emmys in the last two seasons, including multiple others.
When and where can you stream?
After a year since the last season of Queer Eye, the fifth season is here amid the coronavirus lockdown.
The previous season was shot almost entirely in Tokyo, Japan, in line with the show’s format of shooting entirely in a particular geographic location. The previous seasons covered Georgia, Missouri, and Kansas.
This year it is Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – the home of the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were signed.
Season five of Queer Eye has premiered on Netflix, June 5.
