‘Psycho-Pass Providence’ unfolds a new story that links the final season of the anime and the third Psycho-Pass SS movie. The movie brings Akane Tsunemori back as the Chief Inspector solving a murder case. She learns of a new group that seeks a highly sensitive document.
The film was released in Japan last weekend and became the fourth highest-grossing film with an approximate return of 150 million yen ($ 1.1 million).
On Tuesday, Sony Pictures and Crunchyroll announced that ‘Psycho-Pass Providence’ will also open in North America. It will have a sneak-peek screening on July 11 and July 13 and a regular limited opening on July 14. The film will be released in Japanese and English dubs.
‘Psycho-Pass Providence’ marks the 10th anniversary of the franchise. The first installment i.e., the ‘Psycho-Pass’ anime aired in 2012.
The film also ranked number 1 on the Filmarks’ first-day satisfaction list, getting a rating of 4.2 out of 5.

While attending a conference, Akane learns of an incident on a foreign vessel. Dr. Milicia Stronskaya, who was invited by Atsushi Shindo, is found dead. The incident turns out to be a part of a bigger plan that involves a research document by Stronskaya which holds a few secrets that can threaten the Japanese government and the Sibyl System.
