PS5 Users Banned for Unlocking PS+ Collection for PS4 Users

Many reports have started to emerge that claims that PS5 owners are now getting permanent network bans for helping PS4 users access the PlayStation Plus Collection.

It comes across as no surprise when someone says that the Xbox Game Pass is THE ideal deal in gaming at the moment, offering hundreds of games at an affordable monthly fee. On the contrary, however, PlayStation doesn’t really have much going for it.

That said, the PlayStation Plus Collection is still a pretty sweet deal for many, especially for those able to grab a PlayStation 5 after the console’s release.

If you think about it, those 20 games that you get with the collection for free through a PSN subscription basically means that you’re getting a PS4 bundled along with your shiny new PlayStation 5.

However, unlike the Game Pass, which supports the Xbox One, PC, and the Xbox Series consoles, PlayStation Plus Collection is available only to those that buy a PlayStation 5. Of course, it is available to PS4 users as well, but only after they log in once through a PS5.

It’s basically Sony’s way of saying, “Hey, here’s a neat little loophole in our system for you to exploit! Now, go have fun with it!”

As many may have already guessed, PS5 owners were quick to help their previous-generation console pals to get them the PS Plus Collection by having them log in using their PSN account on the PS5.

That said, Sony seems to have already caught wind of this, seeing how reports from China have started to emerge that PS owners who utilize this exploit are now receiving a permanent network ban, with a rumored 2-month ban being given to the PS4 users. Take a look at what one user tweeted out:

While there still stands a possibility that the ban may only be given to those that log in to their devices using multiple accounts quickly, there’s still a possibility that this may be happening under normal circumstances as well. That said, I’d argue that it’s better not to use this exploit for the time being and wait to see how things play out.
