We all make many mistakes and most of the time they are excusable, but some blunders are too big to be excused. The most anticipated anime film of 2021, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, was accidentally made available on Playstation.
This was one big mistake as many people got to see the movie without having to go out.
Demon slayer is one of the most popular anime titles right now. So naturally, the film was the most awaited movie of the year, especially after setting numerous box office records.
On April 27, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie: Mugen Train was accidentally made available earlier by PlayStation Store through the PlayStation 4 console.
This was a grave mistake on Sony’s part as many people took advantage of this opportunity.
The movie was initially supposed to be available digitally from June 22, i.e., almost two months from now.
Due to this, the movie is now available online for everyone all over the world to see.
The movie was removed after a few hours and is no longer available to purchase. The people who did buy it either got to keep it or got a refund instead.
This might have happened since Demon Slayer’s production company, Aniplex, is owned by Sony. Therefore, some anime series and films have been made available digitally on the platform ever since PlayStation 3.
However, the incident took a hilarious turn when fans started tweeting about it.
The movie did phenomenally in the US, ranking on #2 after Mortal Kombat on the opening weekend. This made Demon Slayer Movie the most successful anime movie in the US this year.
The movie earned about US$21,144,800 (about 2.2 billion yen) at the US box office, making it the second most successful anime of all time in the USA.
The movie surpassed Spirited Away as the #1 and highest-earning film in Japan so far.
Had it not been for the ongoing pandemic, Mugen Train would’ve broken more records, and its earnings would have skyrocketed.
Hoping the person who accidentally leaked the movie is alright, though we all know the consequences would have been dire.
