This is going to give the console wars folks something to talk about.
In the Resident Evil showcase held today, developers Capcom revealed a whole bunch of information about the series, including when players will be able to play the series’ latest outing, Resident Evil Village. While players across all platforms will get a peek at the game, it turns out that PS4/5 players will be first in line.
Players on PS4 and PS5 will get access to the 30-minute demo titled “8 Hours in Village” at 5pm PDT on April 17 for North America, and 7pm CEST/5pm HKT for Europe and Asia, respectively, on April 18. As for players on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia, the demo will go live on May 1 for North America and May 2 for Europe/Asia.
It’s important to note that irrespective of the platform, the demo will be live for an 8-hour period only. This is to celebrate the fact that Resident Evil Village is the eighth title in the long-running horror series. In terms of gameplay, the demo will feature the village and a few other castles to explore, so there’s plenty to go around for players to get a good feel of the game.
In addition to details about RE Village, Capcom unveiled details about a Netflix animated series titled Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness and a new Village game mode titled The Mercenaries that will be available once players complete the main RE Village story.
