Production I.G is one of the leading anime production companies in Japan behind popular titles like Attack on Titans, Psycho-Pass, and Haikyuu!!.
It has been in the anime industry from December 15, 1987, with a simple goal, according to president Mitsuhisa Ishikawa, “to make anime that stands on its own ground without being an extension of the manga.”
Adult Swim, famous for Rick and Morty is an American adult-oriented nighttime programming block for Cartoon Network.
It has played an active role in bringing anime to America through Toonami that primarily broadcasts Japanese animes every Sunday morning from 12 a.m. to 3 a.m. ET/PT.
Production I.G’s producer Rui Kuroki announced in Production I.G. USA’s panel at Anime Expo Lite on Saturday that they are working on an anime series in collaboration with Adult Swim. The production company plans to announce it at the “Virtual ComicCon” event.
When asked about the new project, Rui Kuroki responded that “it is something Production I.G has never done before.”
We can also expect more information about this mysterious new collaboration at the Adult Swim Con online event that will be held between July 23 and July 25, 2020.
Comic-Con @ Home, the virtual convention will also be held between July 22 and July 26, lieu of San Diego Comic-Con.
These two companies are giants in their own fields with multiple titles under their belt. A collaboration between the two can only result in a beautiful piece of work that will be enjoyed by fans throughout the globe.
