After being delayed from January 18th 2021 to March 21st 2021, the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake has now been delayed indefinitely. Ubisoft, on behalf of the development teams in Ubisoft India, announced the delay on Twitter.
While the first delay was attributed to inconveniences caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the reasons for this second delay seem to plainly be the need for more time Although, it must be said that this second delay might just work out in Ubisoft’s favour.
After much online speculation, when the french video game giant finally announced the remake, they were met with serious despair and disappointment. Fans especially called out the underwhelming graphics of the gameplay trailer.
Studio Managing Director Syed Abbas said,
“In response to the outcry, Ubisoft India insisted the remake’s look was actually a deliberate stylistic choice. Neither budget nor time had contributed to the graphical design”

However, such explanations did little to turn the tide of public perception, which contributed to Ubisoft’s decision to delay the project out of its originally scheduled January 2021 launch date. In postponing the Prince of Persia remake to March, the developers have promised to use the extra time to ensure players receive a game they will be satisfied with.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will be a new-gen reboot of Ubisoft’s groundbreaking 2003 game. It is said to include visual enhancements and improved graphical assets, a new camera and overhauled combat controls. Ubisoft India is also said to have created additional motion-capture and voice recording with original Prince of Persia actor Yuri Lowenthal back in the role and actress Supinder Wraich cast as Farah.
