Amazon Prime comes up with the most interesting originals, and their upcoming comedy series looks just as wacky as it is engaging.
The coming-of-age series stars Jharrel Jerome (When They See Us) as a 13-foot-tall Virgo who is gunning for an adventure after a life of being stuck in the same small town living on superhero stories.
The TV series is set to premiere at the world premiere of the SXSW Film & TV Festival, and before its debut, Prime Video has released a trailer for the TV series. You can watch it below:
The trailer introduces us to Cootie (Jerome), a giant whose life has been rooted in Oakland since birth. But his journey takes a turn when he meets The Hero, and after years of staying cooped up binging comic series and TV shows, the Virgo is off to a mythical adventure.
The minute-long video details the issues he causes for his parents due to his size and his decision to get out before he destroys their house.
He opens up to a world outside his bubble, driving around with friends and hitting up clubs, but then he encounters The Hero, and that’s when his life turns around.
The show’s plot is unavailable, but creator and director Boot Riley has explained that Cootie’s astrological sign is vital to him as that’s what he views himself as despite having much more prominent features.
The series stars a talented cast besides Moonlight’s Jerome, including Walter Goggins, Brett Gray, Kara Young, Olivia Washington, Carme Ejogo, and Allius Barnes.
Amazon Studios hasn’t confirmed a release date, but we’ll be getting all episodes of the show sometime in the summer of 2023 on Prime Video.
