The latest official Darkest Hour cover art unveils a bone-chilling rendition of our favorite Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. With the show coming to an end, BOOM! Studios reveal a grotesque cover that transforms the Power Rangers into nightmarish zombies.
The new cover shows the addition of Red and Blue Rangers to the ranks of the disgusting undead. The future looks bleak indeed!
The paradigm shift starts with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #112, written by Melissa Flores and illustrated by Hendry Prasetya, where Aisha and Matt ‘fall into the lethal grip of dark magic. This leads to the slow zombification of the Yellow and Green Rangers, and things just go from bad to worse.
As the cover art suggests, the fatal fate of Matt and Aisha may also befall the Red and Blue Rangers, which is indicated by the spine-chilling cover art created by Taurin Clarke for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #114 and #115.
So, how did this terrifying transformation begin in the first place? It all starts with the unfortunate revival of the Death Ranger, who strikes a dark alliance with the nefarious Mistress Vile.
However, the Death Ranger isn’t alone; he comes with an apocalyptic army of undead rangers who make up Mistress Vile’s monstrous army.
With his newfound powers, the Dark Ranger threatens to cripple the entire world with his army of undead superheroes.
According to fan gossip and League of Comic Geeks, the grim posters of #115 and leaks indicate that the Darkest Hour event might deliver the most devastating storyline in the entire Power Rangers multiverse!
The preview also suggests that Tommy might be the only ‘human’ Ranger left, and the onus will be on him to make sense of the madness and save his friends from the unthinkable.
This hour of need might also see some well-known villains reluctantly turning into saviors for the collective good of the universe.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers joins Marvel Zombies and DCeased as another franchise to zombify its superheroes. While the excitement is peaking among fans, an air of anxiety remains because we don’t know whether our favorite Rangers will get out of this fiasco alive.
The armageddon ahead is perilous and holds an air of uncertainty, which will decide the future of the timeless Power Rangers Mighty Morphin.
Fans desperate to uncover the destiny of the two Rangers will have to wait for the comics to be released on November 22 and December 27, respectively.
