It has only been a few months since the Pokemon Legends: Arceus game was released, and it’s already a fan favorite. The game has not only made Pokemon lovers happier but also made the Hisui region famous, leading to an animated mini-series based on it.
The latest addition to the animated world of the Pokemon franchise, Pokemon: Hisuian Snow, is based in the Hisui region of the game. It will show us a world where some people believe that Pokemon and people can’t coexist.
Pokemon: Hisuian Snow animated series premiered on The Pokemon Company’s official YouTube channel with its first episode yesterday.
First things first, the episode has some insane visuals and captivating scenery that accurately captures the beauty of the snowy Alabaster Forest. Even if you don’t like Pokemon (which is highly unlikely), I recommend you to watch this three-episode series for the landscape.
Coming back to the plot, it introduces us to the protagonist Alec who has come to the Alabaster Forest to gather wood with his father. He goes on to explore the place only to find a Hisuian Zorua practicing a skill.
The Zorua is weak but still tries to attack Alec, who laughs at the Pokemon’s failed move. Out of frustration and anger, Zorua tackles Alec to the ground, only for them to roll over and fall down a cliff.
Moreover, the episode recites a tale of a wild Hisuian Zoroark who went mad after losing a Zorua whom it considered its family.
Alec’s father also recounts the same story to his son, saying how humans seemingly killed someone close to Zoroark, resulting in the Pokemon’s destructive behavior.
All we’ve ever known is that the bond between Pokemon and humans is peaceful and friendly, so seeing it from such a contradictory perspective is refreshing and new.
We all know how the series will end with Alec and Zorua breaking the taboo and becoming inseparable friends, but I am excited to see how it all plays out.
About Pokémon
Pokémon was first released in 1996 and is set up in a world where humans catch monsters and store them in pocket-sized poke-balls.
They are creatures with an affinity to certain elements and some superhuman abilities related to that element.
Revolving around a teenage boy Ash Ketchum, Pokémon takes us through his journey to becoming the most accomplished Pokémon trainer the world has ever seen.
