Caleb King is a junior at the University of North Georgia, and his Pokemon card collection is now his means for a secure future. According to King, he bought the cards for $4000, and now he has sold his collection for $80,000.
King further explains that the pandemic is partly responsible for the insane hike in Pokemon collectible cards’ price. The year has driven people to find new distractions from the isolation and the miseries around us.
The most striking part is that Caleb is yet to play his most valuable card. He estimates his first edition Red Cheeks Pikachu to sell for $20,000. He is also still in possession of 21 cards, which he says might sell upwards of $50,000.
What will he do with all this money? Very simple, he wants to use this money to get closer to his dream of becoming an orthopedic surgeon.
Of course, Caleb faced a lot of opposition and ridicule from his parents, who believed that their son is just wasting their money. However, now that they know what his collection is worth, they are stupefied and so are we!
