A big content update dropped in New World yesterday, and for many frustrated players, it would be the reason to continue playing or drop off entirely. The patch was intended to revamp the end-game by introducing Expedition Mutations with new gear and more effective ways to increase a player’s equipment and expertise to the maximum.
But, this Hail Mary patch appears to have introduced new bugs to the game.
Reddit user Bocika is running a tally of everything wrong with the patch that dropped yesterday. The most significant issue seems to be a bug that has entirely messed up the players’ inventory.
Amazon Games is aware of this issue and says it occurs from items not stacking correctly,
causing the unique item limit to be reached before the intended limit as well as players unable to craft with materials in storage.

The developers have made this their top priority to fix.
Aside from the inventory issues, players could not chat with each other in the global channel, but that appears to have been fixed. Person-to-person trading was also broken due to the inventory issue, and several players are reporting problems being double-taxed on their property.
The Mutated Expeditions were the biggest problem with this update. It was meant to start providing gear drops with scores in the 590 to 625 range, but players found items with a gear score of just 500.
Combined with the paltry amount of Umbral Shards players received for completing a Mutated Expedition and the massive quantity needed to upgrade your gear, players are labeling this update a bust.
What makes this all the worse is that there have been reports of this patch increasing the number of crashes, despite being tested on public servers for weeks. Reddit user Valentino-Spice said,
No, man, this isn’t a rough patch, there is something fundamentally wrong with those in charge and the ones that thought launching this beta game was appropriate. As someone who works with client-facing tech, I wouldn’t dare subject this level of service to them, I would feel morally wrong about it.

At this point, it seems Amazon Games can’t do anything right when it comes to New World. They can try to fix this problem, but with the player base dwindling day by day, it may be too late for the MMO.
