Tommy is battered after Season 5, and the last thing he needs is animosity from one of his trusted kin. Sadly, Season 6 trailer points to tensions rising high between him and Ada.
The clip was released by BBC on Twitter and portrays Ada in a new get-up that matches her equally confident stance. Ada is seen striding into Tommy’s office, saying, “Take a good look Tom, because one of us is not going to be here for long.”
I won’t blame Tommy was looking disconcerted. Watch now:
Now Ada could be simply cautioning Tommy about the fate of the Shelby Company Limited, which has been running into too many problems (and betrayals). While Tommy prides himself over his intellectual schemes, they’re also quite often the reason why the company gets into a pickle.
But another drastic theory is that the dialogue indicates only one of two will survive Season 6.
There are quite a lot of rumors floating around that Tommy will sacrifice himself for Ada. It ties in with his guilt of having Colonel Ben Younger die because of him, without even knowing Ada was pregnant with his child.
I know, I know, we’re not ready to say goodbye to either character, at least not until we’ve seen the last of the Peaky Blinders in their feature film.
We’re definitely going to miss having the late Helen McCrory on screen. But Ada’s change of tone could also mean that she will command her rightful place among the Peaky Blinders as Aunt Polly did.
(I’m still curious as to how the show will pay their respects to McCrory and explain her absence.)
Managing the Peaky Blinders has never been an easy task. But with Alfie Solomons’ return, uncovering Season 5’s betrayal and a whole new batch of problems waiting for sure, Tommy’s fate is looking bleak coupled with his sister’s sinister warning.
Teased to return in early 2022, the exact release date for Peaky Blinders Season 6 remains TBA. I expect to see a full-length trailer very soon!
About Peaky Blinders
Peaky Blinders is a British period crime drama television series created by Steven Knight. Set in Birmingham, England, the series follows the exploits of the Shelby crime family and their leader Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) in the direct aftermath of the First World War.
The fictional family is loosely based on a real urban youth gang of the same name, active in the city from the 1890s to the early 20th century. It stars Cillian Murphy, Sam Claflin, Aidan Gillen, Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson, Finn Cole, and Tom Hardy
Netflix, under a deal with Weinstein Company and Endemol, acquired the rights to release the show in the United States and around the world. In January 2021, it was announced that the sixth series would be the last, followed by a spin-off film. The final series was broadcast in 2022.
