Peaky Blinders S6 Finale: Two Main Villains Missing in Action

The stakes were quite high this season of Peaky Blinders. Other than all the exhausting mental, emotional and physical turmoil that Tommy had to go through, he also had to outsmart quite a few adversaries: the IRA’s Captain Swing, Oswald Mosley, Michael, Gina and their uncle Jack Nelson.

The finale did put a definite end to some of these threats (RIP Michael and Swing) but Mosley and Nelson didn’t even make it into the episode. What happened to these two big villains?

Both Jack Nelson and Oswald do not appear in Peaky Blinders S6 Finale. But Tommy finds other ways of dealing with them: He kills Michael and Billy Grade who were working for Nelson, and apprehends his doctor who gave him a false tuberculoma diagnosis under Mosley’s orders.

Although we did not see the two villains on screen, the finale did tie up some loose strings from their storyline. Any development is better than no development, and this may allow us to speculate if we’ll see these characters again and in what capacity.

Uncle Jack and Mosley are a No-Show

For all the trouble that the show took to set up Jack Nelson, the antagonist does not appear in the season finale.

But perhaps he was present in the episode in other ways: One, when Tommy takes a shot at Michael, killing his pawn. Two, when the Peaky Blinders sniff out the mole Billy Grade, who was lately working as Nelson’s informant.

In the same way, Mosley appears in the episode just through insinuation — When Tommy learns that the doctor who gave him his tuberculoma diagnosis is good buddies with Mosley. He connects the dots and then gets the doctor to confess that the fascist indeed hired him to write out a false diagnosis.

There is no clear answer as to why they’re both missing in action. Maybe it didn’t make for a good finale plot, or maybe the re-writing and re-shooting had already cost the show too much. Perhaps, dealing with them in the movie was the plan all along. Waiting for a few interviews to clear this one up.

Will Jack Nelson return to Peaky Blinders?

Some might say that Tommy only started dealing with Nelson because Michael was in his service. So now that Michael’s dead, Nelson will be but a tiny pebble in his path.

Even though the situation is currently in Tommy’s favor, neither he, nor Nelson have fully won this tug of war. So I definitely think he will appear again, if only for a resolution.

Will Mosley return to Peaky Blinders?

Definitely. We will most likely see Mosely again in the Peaky Blinders movie.

Mosley’s story is nearly reaching its end, as he will be imprisoned at the beginning of WWII and I bet the show will rewrite history to show that Thomas Shelby had a (red right) hand to play in it.

I know of no other ending that would be more perfect end to the Shelby-Mosley feud.
