The new Peacemaker teaser released in DC Fandome has us all super, super excited. Trust James Gunn to give fans a brand new story set in the same universe and do it flawlessly.
Along with a good two-and-a-half-minute teaser look into everything John Cena’s Peacemaker is struggling (and having fun) with, we also have a release date for the HBO Max show – January 13, 2022.
A first lengthy look at the teaser shows Cena at his absolute best as the titular anti-hero. He was born to play this role and James Gunn to direct a spin-off.
The trailer opens up with where we were left behind – the anti-hero in the hospital. Peacemaker tells the staff he’s a superhero, and of course, the staff doesn’t buy it. And that’s where it begins – his existential crisis – he has to make his way as the superhero Peacemaker now.
We’re then introduced to the team – Murn, Harcourt, John Economus, Adebayo, and of course, his kickass buddies Vigilante and Eagly.
The first half of the teaser focuses on Peacemaker getting back on his feet, and the second half seems to punch him in the throat. Especially in the scene with his dad, which shows how to be a great superhero, he has to face the biggest villain too – his daddy issues.
How can we miss the villains? Judomaster, an 80s hair-style woman throwing Peacemaker through a wall and Senator Royland Goff, the team’s first “target.”
Among the many things to look forward to (and fans will agree with us), is his camaraderie with his bestie bald eagle. The show focuses on not only the origins of the anti-hero, but also his friendship with Eagly who rides shotgun as he plays drums on the steering wheel, almost giving us a Supernatural Dean Winchester feel.

Since the teaser release, fans can’t stop but marvel over James Gunn’s genius to take up not that mainstream characters and make them highly intriguing. They also are going berserk over how Cena fits into the character flawlessly.
Aside from James Gunn, Cena, and the other actors, some fans think Eagly is the MVP. And well, we believe the same.
James Gunn’s Peacemaker will finally premiere on January 13 on HBO Max.
