Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden, the stars of Citadel, hint at what’s to come in the season 1 finale that will shock the viewers.
The premise of Amazon Prime’s latest drama series is a disastrous operation on a fast-moving train in Italy that causes elite agents Nadia Sinh and Mason Kane to lose their memories and their connection. They live apart for eight years until their enigmatic boss Bernard Orlick brings them back together.
Chopra Jonas and Madden hint at what’s in store for Citadel season 1’s final episode in a chat with Collider. They both say episode 6 was their favorite to shoot, and that it will reveal the secrets behind the premiere’s mysteries. Here’s what they have to say:
It’s going to be [episode] 6. We plant so many seeds throughout the show and jump through so many timelines. Everything collides, and all the payoffs happen in the sixth episode. I mean, every episode has a big chunk of the journey, but I love Episode 6.
I would say that that’s a hard one to pick, but I have to agree with Richard. So many questions get answered, and you have so many other questions by Episode 6 because you’re so invested in everyone’s stories, and there are some amazing revelations to look forward to.
Citadel starts with the mission that causes Mason and Nadia to lose their memories. They are supposed to get some illegal nuclear material, but they find out they have been betrayed by a mysterious group called Manticore.
The series premiere leaves many unanswered questions about why they were set up, and the finale could have a shocking twist.
Bernard seems shady after Citadel episode 2. He disappeared during Mason and Nadia’s last mission and came back eight years later without any trouble from Manticore.
He was caught by Manticore in Citadel episode 2, so maybe he was hiding from them for a long time. Episode 3 might show more of Bernard’s past when he gets questioned, but if he turns out to be the traitor who sold out Mason and Nadia, Citadel will have a thrilling finale.
Citadel season 1 will reveal a lot of secrets as it switches between different times, but Chopra Jonas and Madden’s words suggest that the Prime Video show will have more to offer in its next season.
With several spinoff shows planned in different countries as part of Prime Video’s ambitious attempt to create a global franchise, Citadel will probably leave some mysteries unsolved for more stories.
