Paul Rudd Confirms He Is in London as Filming for ‘Ant-Man 3’ Begins

Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd has confirmed in an Instagram video that he’s currently in London filming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the third installment in MCU’s Ant-Man film series.

In the clip posted on Tyreek Hill’s Instagram account (@cheetah), Rudd is seen promoting a charity celebrity basketball game. The game in question is for the Tyreek Hill Foundation, raising money for the Cheetah Scholarship Fund.

Towards the end, Rudd mentions that he wouldn’t be able to attend the game as he’d be filming Ant-Man 3, but jokingly added,

“Maybe I’ll show up. I might be really small, you might not be able to see me, but I’ll be there.”

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be exploring the Quantum Realm introduced in the first Ant-Man film and further expanded upon in Avengers: Endgame.

Back in 2018, director Peyton Reed talked to Comicbook.com about his plans for the trilogy,

“There are definitely things in this movie that, if we’re fortunate enough to make another one, there’s a lot to play with.

We spend more time in the Quantum Realm in this movie, obviously than the first movie, but it feels like we’re just dipping our toes into it.”

Reed recently also revealed via a tweet that the film will be using ILM’s StageCraft technology, similar to the one used for The Mandalorian. The tweet featured an image of a snow-clad landscape with a reflective orb, The Volume, located at Pinewood Studios in the U.K.

The Volume is a curved 20-foot high 270-degree LED video wall made up of 1,326 individual LED screens topped with an LED ceiling. It might possibly be used mainly for locations such as the different phases in the Quantum Realm.

The Ant-Man films follow Scott Lang, a former criminal (we prefer whistle-blower), who has a suit, made by Hank Pym, that can shrink him down to sub-atomic levels or enlarge him to the size of a giant.

Rudd will return as the titular character. Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, and Michelle Pfeiffer will also return to reprise their respective roles. Kathryn Newton will be replacing Emma Fuhrmann as Cassie Lang. Jonathan Majors will portray Kang the Conqueror, the main antagonist. Kang’s abilities include time travel, so there will definitely be a lot of traveling. through time

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set for a release date of February 17, 2023. But before that, other Phase 4 projects like Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will also explore concepts of time travel and multiverses, and hopefully will set up a much clearer picture for when Ant-Man 3 arrives.
