Since Tekken 8’s announcement, developers of Bandai Namco have been steadily announcing characters in the title’s roster one by one.
A closed network test for the upcoming Tekken title, Tekken 8, was held in July. The initial run was exclusive to the PlayStation 5.
From the closed network test for Tekken 8, someone extracted a partial roster for the title using Cheat Engine. In Cheat Engine, the game files revealed six previously unannounced characters. Cheat Engine is an application that lets players modify the games via many scripts made by the Tekken community.
The characters include Alisa, Raven, Shaheen, Steve, Yoshimitsu, and Zafina. Raven is likely a reference to the Blade-looking fighter introduced in Tekken 5.
By this theory, Raven probably does not refer to Master Raven from Tekken 7. Master Raven replaced the version we saw in Tekken 5.
Coming to Yoshimitsu, he has been a constant presence in every Tekken title since the original. Given that this is a partial roster, some irreplaceable characters are absent from the list.
This includes the likes of Kuma, Panda, and Robert “Bob” Richards. Robert “Bob” Richards’ inclusion has been hinted at by a new stage at Times Square, New York.
The confirmed official Tekken 8 roster includes fan-favorite characters like Jin Kazama, King, and Marshall Law, with more characters to be announced soon.
The lack of the presence of Lucky Chloe means there’s potential for a future announcement, along with many other fan favorites.
It was mentioned in a Tekken discord server that the fact that Nina Williams has been included is a good indication that her sister, Anna, will also be included in the final roster.
Regardless of what the final roster turns out to be, Tekken 8 will be a step forward from the old days of Tekken. Players are excited about crossplay, rollback netcode, and a new battle system.
