Mangas become our constant companions with their long stories. Following a series for such a long time attaches us emotionally to both the story and its characters.
Once the story ends, it leaves its fans heartbroken over the fact that they won’t be reading about their favourite characters anymore.
The September issue of Shinchosha’s Monthly Comic @Bunch magazine on July 21 published the final chapter for Yū Toyota’s Papa to Oyaji no Uchi Gohan, aka Papa and Dad’s Home Cooking.
Shinchosha will publish the final 13th compiled volume for the manga on October 9.
Yū Toyota’s Papa to Oyaji no Uchi Gohan is a unique manga that captures both the beauty of fatherhood and the challenges of a single parent.
The manga began serialization in Shinchosha’s Monthly Comic @Bunch magazine from April 2014. Since its serialization, it has published 12 compiled volumes with the 13th and the final volume on its way.
The story revolves around Sengoku Akira, a chiropractor who knows nothing about raising a child. He is suddenly entrusted with Airi, his daughter (who he had with his ex-girlfriend).
In this troubled time, Akira asked help from his friend Harumi Masahiro, a divorced manga editor with a young son of his own, only to find out the first step of fatherhood is to cook good food.
The series captures Akiras fate as a single parent and highlights the importance of food in these relationships.
A manga spinoff by Yū Toyota titled ‘Papa to Oyaji no Uchi Nomi’ began serialization in Go Go Bunch magazine from April 9, 2016, publishing two complied volumes as of now.
