Pacific Rim is an American cyberpunk movie that revolves around humans building giant robots to punch monsters in the face. Pacific Rim: The Black brings an anime spin to the Guillermo del Toro film.
Even though the world of Pacific Rim and Pacific Rim: The Black are the same, the anime takes place when the Kaiju have taken over, and the desperate attempts of humans to fight back are falling short. A sibling duo has to fight for their survival in these desperate times.
Netflix has recently released a short trailer for its upcoming Pacific Rim: The Black anime. The anime series will debut on 4th March.
The trailer shows Taylor and Hayley, the two siblings who taught themselves how to pilot Jaegers. The trailer shows the evacuation of the whole Australian continent as the Kaijus threaten human existence.
In such a dire situation, the siblings get left out and only have themselves to rely upon. The bond between them gets even stronger as they initiate ‘drifting.’ Drifting is a bond created between the Jaeger’s pilots to lessen the mental stress of piloting one.
It is an original anime series that will expand on the story of the pre-existing Pacific Rim movies. Polygon Pictures is animating the series. Craig Kyle and Greg Johnson will serve as the showrunner of the series.
Pacific Rim: The Black is a 3D animated series, and the animation techniques and effects that are shown in the trailer is enough to draw in the action-addicted, mecha enthusiast audience.
The original Pacific Rim film has received positive reviews from critics and has also received several awards like the Annie Award, British Academy Film Awards, and the Critics Choice Movie Award.
