Blizzard Hands Out OWL Rewards to Overwatch 2 Players After a Month

Blizzard’s decision to give several Overwatch League skins to players who watched the recent post-season matches was welcomed by players. However, what could have been an eventful campaign turned out to be a disaster.

After a month, Overwatch 2 players finally got their rewards for tuning in to watch the Overwatch League playoffs.

The Overwatch League was held between October 30th till November 4th. Players reported that they were unable to link their YouTube accounts, and even those who did, claimed that they had not received their rewards yet.

To help viewership stats, Blizzard promised incentives such as extra League Tokens, and even Overwatch League skins, which would be given for every three hours spent watching. The ultimate bonus consisted of Overwatch 2’s newest heroes’ skins, namely, Sojourn, Junker Queen, and Kiriko.

Although Blizzard did clarify that the aforementioned rewards would not reach players overnight, nobody expected a month-long wait. It is also possible that this was the intended time frame, or that only a few players’ rewards were held up.

The replies to the Reddit post above had mixed responses. While several rejoiced with their new gifts, others claimed that their rewards hadn’t been delivered yet. Blizzard has clarified that the Overwatch League Sojourn skin has not been sent out to anyone yet. It will be included with next week’s patch update for Season 2.

Players are hoping Blizzard will renew its Overwatch League streaming exclusivity deal with YouTube for the next season. YouTube’s account connectivity issues have caused net views of Overwatch League to dip.
