Episode 8 Recap
Princess Zanac discusses the current political climate with his sister at the Re-Estize kingdom. The Sorcerer Kingdom has been able to significantly increase its agricultural production using undead soldiers, which makes him concerned.
The Re-Estize kingdom even started to provide supplies to the Theocracy, ultimately unproductive. Although the domain is under increasing pressure, the Princess wonders if Zanac will keep his promises. He appears confident of his ascendancy to power and eager to reassure her.
In the meantime, Philip Montserrat also learns that food production has increased in the Sorcerer Kingdom. Re-Estize kingdom may also experience a price drop, affecting its profits. To prevent this from happening, he devises an evil plan.
As soon as Ainz learns that the carriages carrying supplies were attacked, he is infuriated since all of them bore the flag of the Sorcerer Kingdom.
In recent months, his kingdom has grown quite powerful, so he sees this as an offense against him and his kingdom. Ainz summons albedo to discuss the incident. She shocks him by explaining that the culprit is a noble they had planned to use to seize power in Re-Estize.
Hilma then appears as a witness, apologizing profusely and disputing her involvement. Her truthfulness is verified by Ainz using his power.

Ainz’s loved ones were concerned about Hilma’s well-being when he returned home, but Hilma was praised for Ainz’s kindness as a king once she returned. In his letter to Hilma, Ainz also instructs Albedo to tell his faithful servants about the carrot and stick plan.
Albedo describes the carrot and sticks strategy as a way of seizing the power of the Re-Estize kingdom. Civil war will be stoked by the Sorcerer Kingdom covertly in Re-Estize. The Sorcerer Kingdom will absorb the population when the social conditions deteriorate, and bloodshed reaches its peak, causing Re-Estize’s downfall.
Ainz and his servants can show other kingdoms that conflict with them will result in rewards for avoiding it. Their actions will have far more dire consequences if they decide to rebel against the Sorcerer Kingdom. This is Ainz’s carrot and sticks plan, and he plans to use it in the future. The re-Estize domain is worse off because of the move, which was supposed to benefit him politically.
Prince Zanac strongly disagrees with the king’s argument that they should not bow their heads before the Sorcerer Kingdom. He thinks they can’t stand a chance against Ainz and his allies since he is familiar with their powers.
The Sorcerer Kingdom offers them the opportunity to become vassals, which would eliminate conflict, but not everyone agrees. There are other plans the king has, he argues. The news of Albedo’s return to the Re-Estize kingdom prevents him from discussing it.
