The wait is finally over. Rockstar has finally announced the Outlaw Pass 5 for Red Dead Online. Like always, there’s a ton of attractive awards to unlock, but Rockstar Games also made a few tweaks to this latest pass.
At first, the rewards look as standard as the previous Outlaw Passes. There are several cosmetic upgrades, including emotes, clothing, wraps for weapons, and new horse manes and tails. Players can also earn a new satchel, skill pamphlets, role XP boosts and filters to be used with the Advanced Camera.
The price of the new Outlaw Pass is 35 Gold Bars and, as with previous passes, you can earn back 25 of those bars just by leveling up through the ranks. Additionally, as is tradition, Rockstar Games also rewards players who jump in early, and anyone who purchases the pass before March 23rd will receive an additional rebate of 10 Gold Bars, making the entire pass pretty much free!
One of the major changes Rockstar Games has made to this Pass is that they seem to be aiming for a shorter season and so, by extension, shorter reward tracks. The Outlaw Pass 4 released in December, lasting just shy of four months, and offered players 100 ranks of rewards. The Outlaw Pass 5 is stated to be available only until May 31st, a total of just two and half months, and features just 80 ranks instead of 100.
There is no confirmed news if this is going to be the trend going forwards or if this is a one-off exception. Players have been vocal in the past about the slow rate of content releases on Red Dead Online, so it would make sense for Rockstar to speed things up. But, given the way they’ve added an early rebate system, it also means that players will probably never have to pay to access new content.
35 Gold Bars may seem like a steep price to pay if you’re new to Red Dead Online, but you’ll see that it’s easy to save up once you’ve mastered all the specialization roles. If you’re new to the game, pick up the Bounty Hunter role, as it’s the only specialization to pay both RDO$ and Gold.
And it’s best to start with that if you want to jump into the latest Outlaw Pass and begin your Wild West adventure in Red Dead Online.
