Kage’s clan is blamed under false charges, and the kingdom of Bo slaughtered every shadow clan. Kage witnessed the harsh life and later met Bojji.
Bojji got defeated by Daida after Domas told Bojji about his swordsmanship. Kage decided to befriend Bojji, which made him happy.

Episode 3 Speculation and Discussion
Ousama Ranking is just getting us teary-eyed with its emotional backstory and plot. Knowing Bojji is struggling inside was hard enough but Kage losing everything was another level of emotions.
Prince Daida has some diabolical plan as he has a magic mirror. What do you think he is planning if the crown won’t be his? Bojji is one strong boy, and I think we are yet to see how this little prince will be the best king.
There are some changes with the anime from the manga, but it doesn’t affect the series so far. The next episode might portray Domas’s life and how he became the king’s best swordsman.
So far, the series is quite enjoyable and is set to give us an emotional journey of the young prince as Bojji develops his path to become the strongest king in his own way.

Episode 2 Recap
This episode starts with the shadow clan brutally executed by the Bo kingdom’s soldiers. In the process, Kage and his mother escape but are close to getting caught.
Kage’s mother tells him to run and escape while she tries to defeat the soldiers. Kage thinks he will meet his mother later, almost get caught but is saved by countess Poise and hides in her doll.
Kage then sees his dead mother while the soldiers leave and cries, but Poise cries too, not to raise suspicion. Poise and her henchman tell Kage to go to another kingdom and live. In the new kingdom, Kage tries to get food but ends up with a low-life robber as he cannot afford food.
The robber then uses Kage’s abilities to steal and rob money. As days pass, the robber turns Kage in as the guards are looking for the shadow clan and are offering a reward. Kage escapes realizing soldiers have come to kill him.
Later Kage gets back to the robber, but he tells him to go away. Kage follows the robber around until he gets stabbed in a fight. The robber realizes how Kage was good to him and dies.
Coming to the present, Kage meets Bojji and is now witnessing his fight with prince Daida. Even though Bojji is good at dodging, Domas lets him know this is not how a king swordfights. Bojji then gets beaten brutally to a point where Apeas puts a stop to it.
Prince Daida winning is happy that everything is going according to the prediction. Afterward, Daida talks with a magic mirror about being the next king.
Later Bojji is bandaged and in bed. Domas thinks how Bojji isn’t fit to grow stronger and leaves him to rest. Bojji then gets up and is determined to hold a sword but can’t carry it. Kage watching all this confronts Bojji and tells him he’s plenty strong.
Kage then reveals he wants to be by Bojji’s side always, and he means it. Hearing these words, Bojji smiles with tears.

Ōsama Ranking (Ranking of Kings) is a Japanese comedy manga series by Sōsuke Tōka. It has been serialized online via Echoes’ user-submitted Manga Hack website since May 2017. An anime television series adaptation by Wit Studio premiered in October 2021.
The story centers around Bojji, a deaf, powerless prince who cannot even wield a children’s sword. As the firstborn son, he strives hard and dreams of becoming the world’s greatest king.
However, people mutter about him behind his back as “a good-for-nothing prince” and “no way he can be king.” Bojji is able to make his first-ever friend, Kage, a literal shadow on the ground who somehow understands Bojji well.
