One of the most common stereotypes for otakus is that it is hard for us to find love…which is true for the most part. And what good is the manga industry if they don’t release a story on this too? Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku is a romance that every weeb wants.
Even though the manga ended on July 16th, we still find ourselves yearning for more. And now our prayers have been answered!
Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku manga will receive a spin-off series, details of which will be disclosed later.
To celebrate the end of the Wotakoi series that has been running for six years and its upcoming final volume, Ichijinsha has released three commercials. These commercials feature the main characters of the story.
- Narumi Momose and Hirotaka Nifuji
- Hanako Koyanagi and Tarō Kabakura
- Naoya Nifuji and Kō Sakuragi
They have a peculiar animation, the characters are drawn on cardboard cuts while their voice actors are talking to each other and simultaneously to the viewers in the background.
In addition, the final and 11th volume of the series will be a special edition bundled with the anime’s 20-minute long OAD. The volume will be out on October 14th, 2021.
The OAD is based on the Company Trip arc of the manga. And we all know how amazing those holiday and trip arcs are. By anime law, magical things happen on such trips, and I can’t wait for it!
Some love stories leave an empty hole in your heart when they end. Wotakoi is precisely that type of story which had me feeling like that when it ended on July 16th.
The spin-off does act as a savior for everyone who is deeply connected with the manga and the characters. There is no information revealed about the plot so let us know what you think it will be about!
About Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku
Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku is a Web Manga by Fujita launched on the image-sharing website pixiv in 2014. The manga shifted to Ichijinsha’s Comic POOL digital manga magazine in November 2015.
The one thing Narumi Momose worries about before joining the office on her first day is the disclosure of her identity as an otaku. Her worries come true when she meets her middle school friend, Hirotaka Nifuji.
Later, while having drinks, she utters about her ex-boyfriend’s rejection of her being an otaku. Listening to which Hirotaka promises to be by her side as a fellow otaku. And thus begins the awkward romance between two otakus.
