Oshi no Ko’s 90-minute premiere has risen on the charts to be one of the most popular series this season. Looking at the brilliant execution and introduction of the characters, it was certainly bound to happen as it makes its way to becoming a fan favorite.
The first episode of the series, although entertaining, is brilliantly deceiving. Initially, viewers believe the plot revolves around Ai Hoshino, a teenage idol, but slowly discover that the story centers around her murder and revenge story. Aquamarine and Ruby, the children she raised in secret, find themselves thrown into the entertainment industry while the former seeks revenge. Here are the latest updates.
1. Episode 2 Speculation:
Episode 2 of Oshi no Ko will now center around Ruby and Aqua as they begin their first day of high school. While Ruby will most likely wish to fulfill her mother’s desire of becoming an idol, Aqua will begin his plan to find his father and seek revenge for Ai’s murder as he finds his first suspect.
The next episode will also introduce new characters that will come into the twins’ life, including a now-teenage Kana Arima. Whether she becomes the twins’ friend or rival is currently unknown.
On the day of Ai’s funeral, Aqua had asked the Director to raise him – the next episode will reveal what Aqua learned during his time with the Director.

Doctor Goro Amemiya is a huge fan of the idol Ai Hoshino, partly because she was a favorite idol of Sarina Tendouji, a previous patient of his who died at the age of 12 from a terminal illness. Sarina was quite attached to the doctor and idolized him. Goro is taken aback when Ai arrives at his rural hospital 20 weeks pregnant with twins, despite her refusal to reveal who the father is.
Ai tells Goro that as an orphan, she wanted to experience the joy of raising her own family, but she does not want to give up her idol career, so she plans to raise her children in secret. Goro swears to look after Ai and ensure she has healthy children. Right before the delivery, a stalker of Ai’s arrives and kills Goro because he did not reveal Ai’s location.
He then awakens to find that he has been reborn as Ai’s son Aquamarine and now lives with her and his twin sister Ruby. Ruby is the reincarnation of Sarina, but she does not reveal her previous identity to Aquamarine. Ichigo Saitou, Ai’s manager, then begins making plans for Ai’s comeback, arranging for his wife Miyako to care for the twins while Ai performs.
When Miyako becomes concerned about being relegated to the role of babysitter and considers revealing Ai’s secret pregnancy, the twins use their intelligence to trick Miyako into believing they are gods in human form, securing her cooperation.
As time passes, the twins become increasingly aware of the complexities and realities of the idol and entertainment industries. One year later, Aquamarine meets a film director, Gotanda who offers Ai a role in one of his films if Aquamarine also appears in it. Aquamarine meets child actress Kana Arima during filming, who is skeptical of Ai’s acting ability. Aquamarine performs flawlessly, which frustrates Kana, who forms a one-sided rivalry.
Two years later, the film is a modest success, helping to propel Ai’s career forward. Ai calls the father of their children, gives him her address, and invites him to meet them. However, on the day of her first major dome performance, Ai is discovered by the same stalker who killed Goro and fatally stabs her before fleeing regretfully.
In her final moments, Ai consoles the twins, telling them she loves them and reassuring them that her love is genuine, and wonders if they will grow up to be actors. Following that, the stalker is discovered to have committed suicide, and a memorial service is held for Ai, but the general public quickly forgets her.
The Saitous formally adopt the twins. Ruby decides to follow in Ai’s footsteps and become an idol, while Aquamarine deduces that their biological father gave the stalker Ai’s address with the intent of having her killed.
Aquamarine reasons that his father is also a figure in the entertainment industry and decides to train as an actor, finding a new purpose in life by tracking down and murdering his father in retaliation for Ai’s death. To get into the entertainment industry, he asks Gotanda to raise him, while Ruby hopes to become an idol.
Many years later, the twins are on their way to their first day of high school, where a teenage Arima is also enrolled, and Aquamarine begins his revenge plan. In a post-credits scene, Ai is seen filming a video for her children to see when they grow up.

Oshi no Ko is a supernatural crime-solving manga series written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump since April 2020 and received an anime adaptation in 2023.
The story follows a doctor, Goro, reincarnated as his favorite idol Ai’s kid. Ai names him Aquamarine and his twin sister, a reincarnation of a patient at the hospital, Ruby. Ai is later killed by a stalker who was also responsible for Goro’s death.
