HIDIVE Announces Release Date and Cast For ‘Oshi no Ko’ Eng Dub

‘Oshi no Ko’ is hitting all the right spots this spring with every episode giving us a more in depth look into the dark side of show business. Ai Hoshino’s murder and Aqua’s investigation further adds to the chills. The slightly-noir narrative makes this show one of its kind.

For someone oblivious to the inner world of celebrities, the anime educates a lot about how things go behind the scenes. No wonder it gained instant fame when the first episode came out.

On Wednesday, the official streaming platform HIDIVE announced that ‘Oshi no Ko’ will receive an English dub and will begin its broadcast on May 24. The voice cast for the dub has also been revealed.

Shannon D. Reed is directing the English dub and has previously directed the dubs of Urusei Yatsura, Scum’s Wish, Run with the Wind, and Chihayafuru. Following is the English voice cast for the anime:

The ‘Oshi no Ko’ manga is written by Aka Akasaka, who is also known for his series ‘Kaguya-sama: Love is War’. Mengo Yokoyari has illustrated the series. The anime adaptation premiered on HIDIVE on April 12 and has been the ‘biggest launch ever’ on the platform.

‘Oshi no Ko’ has recently touched on a sensitive topic – celebrity trolling and the mental trauma that comes with it. I am glad an English dub is arriving so that a lot of international viewers can connect with it in a better way.

About Oshi no Ko

Oshi no Ko is a supernatural crime-solving manga series written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump since April 2020 and received an anime adaptation in 2023.

The story follows a doctor, Goro, reincarnated as his favorite idol Ai’s kid. Ai names him Aquamarine and his twin sister, a reincarnation of a patient at the hospital, Ruby. Ai is later killed by a stalker who was also responsible for Goro’s death. As Aquamarine swears revenge on the stalker for his mother’s demise, Ruby follows the same path as her mother to become an idol.
